The Founding Five

The story of Rosa Quay began in the UK in 2013.

It was then that the five of us, the founding members, met and became the best of friends.

We came from five different places, bringing unique perspectives from the UK, Japan, Italy, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Although we each carried distinct cultural backgrounds and values, we were deeply connected by our shared beliefs and approach to life.

Through our daily interactions, we discovered a mutual passion for life, a pursuit of creativity, and an unwavering dedication to quality and attention to detail.

We believe that the power of cultural fusion can create a truly unique and meaningful brand. And so, Rosa Quay was born from this very foundation.

The Five Co-Founders and Their Journey
The Age of Exploration: 2014–2015

The five of us not only came from different places but were also active in diverse fields, each with our own unique strengths.

In our daily lives, we shared our expertise and stories with one another, deeply inspired by each other's experiences.

Between 2014 and 2015, we embarked on a soul-stirring journey together, visiting the hometowns where each of us grew up.

We traveled to places that held the deepest significance in our hearts, spending inspiring and joy-filled moments in those cities and ports.

It was a time of beauty and leisure—a journey that allowed us to delve deeper into one another's cultures and skills.

From this experience, we began exploring new paths:

  • One of us started learning new languages, expanding our understanding of different cultures.
  • Another experimented with new painting styles, exploring the possibilities of creativity.
  • Someone else collected meaningful objects throughout the journey and, together with friends, opened a selected shop to share the joy of discovering these treasures with others.

This small curated shop eventually became the prototype of Rosa Quay.

The shop embodied our dedication to quality and attention to detail, serving as the starting point for sharing premium lifestyle products and refined aesthetics.

Through it, we hoped to bring exceptional, detail-rich products to more people, sharing our love for life and our unique perspectives.

A Relentless Pursuit: 2016–2019

After the journey of exploration, we gained a clearer understanding of our passions and interests.

Between 2016 and 2019, the five of us began to focus on our respective fields, delving deeper into research and development, each pursuing and refining our craft:

  • One of us completed a language course, becoming a bridge for cultural exchange and understanding.
  • One dedicated themselves to artistic creation, transforming passion into soulful paintings.
  • Another continued traveling the world, searching for more exquisite and meaningful treasures.
  • One drew inspiration from the journey and began focusing on design and creativity.
  • Another devoted their full energy to the development of the curated shop.

During these years, we honed our skills and perspectives, broadening our mindset and horizons.

These efforts deepened our understanding of creativity, quality, and detail, while also nurturing the growth of Rosa Quay.

Individual Studios and Rosa Quay: 2019–2023

As time went by, each of us established our own studios in different places, bringing our individual visions to life:

  • Hikawa and friends founded Great Tengu®, focusing on Japanese culture and artworks.
  • In pursuit of its ideals, Negation Normal Form® was born in the UK, along with STUDIO NNF, which specializes in fashion design, and NNF STUDIO, dedicated to playful and experimental creations.
  • Meanwhile, Victor Livy decided to continue developing the curated shop online, making our meticulously selected premium items accessible to more people.

During these years, although we were in different locations, we continued to explore our respective fields while staying united in our shared beliefs.

Each of us has been striving for excellence, accumulating more experience and inspiration to shape the future of Rosa Quay.

The Rosa Quay Five Reunite: 2024

Ten years have passed, and the five of us have finally come together again.

Over the past decade, we each experienced growth and transformation, focusing on our own fields yet always holding onto the same core values.

When we met again, we were delighted to discover that our shared passion for creativity, love for life, and understanding of quality and detail had not only endured but had grown even more aligned than they were ten years ago.

The only difference now is that Rosa Quay is no longer just a brand belonging to the five of us. It has become a platform with a larger team and an extensive network of studios, where each team operates with greater specialization and collaboration.

Because of this, the five of us decided to continue using Rosa Quay as the brand name, staying true to our original vision and sharing beautiful things with even more people.

Setting Sail for the Future: 2025–

In January 2025, after careful consideration, the five founding members decided to return to their respective cities and studios, focusing on their individual development.

At the same time, all five unanimously agreed that Victor Livy, one of the original founders, would continue leading Rosa Quay, guiding the brand into its next chapter.

Victor Livy is not only a co-founder of Rosa Quay but also the creator and driving force behind the original curated shop. He will continue to channel his sharp sensibility for beautiful things and his unwavering dedication to quality. Rosa Quay will also serve as the official representative of the other four founders' studios, becoming a central platform that brings together these creative resources.

Now led by the original core team of the curated shop and maintaining close collaboration with the studios founded by the five members, Rosa Quay remains steadfast in its pursuit of the values and principles it has always upheld.

Today, Rosa Quay is no longer just the vision of the founding five—it has evolved into a larger platform.

After more than ten years of growth, we have become like a true harbor. While the presence of the five founders can still be seen throughout the brand, we have also welcomed many like-minded friends and collaborators, including martial arts instructors, fragrance formulators, artisans, photographers, food enthusiasts, and travel adventurers.

These new contributors not only bring fresh inspiration to Rosa Quay but will also write exclusive columns, sharing their stories and ideas. This makes Rosa Quay a hub for exchanging lifestyle aesthetics and creative inspiration.

Rosa Quay has grown from a curated shop into a lifestyle brand that integrates resources and ideas.

We are committed to providing high-quality lifestyle products while sharing more stories and inspirations.

Today, Rosa Quay is like a true harbor, welcoming diverse people and ideas, connecting different cultures and disciplines, and bringing surprises and inspiration to every visitor.

The Origin of the Name Rosa Quay

The name Rosa Quay itself embodies our philosophy:

  • Quay represents a harbor, a place where people gather, connect, and set sail.
  • Rosa, meaning rose or pink, symbolizes beauty, softness, warmth, and romance.

Together, they form the idea of a “beautiful harbor.”

The inspiration for this name came from the quay where we first gathered in the UK. The cafes and pubs there, along with the pleasant scenery and atmosphere, became the starting point of our story.

During that time, we shared our stories at the quay, experiencing countless moments of inspiration and emotion.

Interestingly, all five of us come from places with beautiful harbors and quays, without exception.

These harbors hold the memories of our upbringing and are also the essence of Rosa Quay’s charm, representing the core spirit of our brand:
